Why See Louisville Ballet - The Brown-Forman Nutcracker?

Holiday & Christmas ShowsBalletFamily ShowsDance & BalletThe Nutcracker

Back for another year of magic!

The Brown-Forman Nutcracker choreographed by Val Caniparoli is an annual holiday institution in Louisville, and this year promises to be even more spectacular! Join Marie on an exciting adventure with her Nutcracker Prince, as they battle giant mice and explore the magical land of sweets, as the Sugar Plum fairy puts on a show of a lifetime for them!

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The story follows an adolescent girl named Marie who experiences a wonderful adventure through her vivid dreams on Christmas Eve. Following a lavish ball hosted by her wealthy parents in their well-heeled European townhouse, Marie, exhausted by the excitement falls asleep under the family Christmas tree with her new Nutcracker doll.

When she awakes, the tree has magically grown to gigantic proportions, and a mysterious prince who bears a striking resemblance to the Nutcracker greets Marie, and embarks with her on an adventure fighting life-sized mice, meeting beautiful fairies and other outlandish characters. Their journey to the Kingdom of Sweets includes the famous dance vignettes: Chocolate, Coffee, Tea, Trepak, Mirlitons, The Waltz of the Flowers and of course, the regal Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (and her Cavelier).

As they are waved off by the magical party in a beautiful flying sleigh, Marie falls back to sleep. Has this been just a dream - or is there a further surprise waiting for her in the morning? It is the perfect opportunity to introduce your children to this wonderful dance form and holiday treat or perhaps, just to reconnect with the child in you!
