Billie Holiday was one of the most distinctive and defining singing voices of her generation. Considered by many to be one of the greatest jazz singers of all time, her passionate and laconic vocal style carried an emotional depth that is linked to her short and tragic life. Her legacy is celebrated in this classic musical in which the audience is given a glimpse of one of her last performances at the seedy Emmerson's Bar and Grill, painting a heartrending yet humorous portrait of the Lady Day through her music.

Given just four months before she died, the iconic Emmerson's performance consists of over twelve song numbers that are peppered with eye-opening anecdotes and poignant recollections of an extraordinary life. Whilst sorrow and hardship is never far off in her tale, Miss Holiday had an innate ability to bring a touch of comedy in times of despair, imbuing her performances with an otherworldly sense of grace and poise.
